My 5 Minute Makeup
Morning everyone! How was your weekend? Fab I hope! Mine weekend was quite relaxing this weekend – I finished filming a week or so ago (check out the IMdb link to the film as it’s going to be another of Dame Judi’s finest performances) so I have been really busy with my blog and doing some more videos for you all! Very exciting couple of weeks coming up!
Are you ready to find out how I did my 5 minute makeup!?
Today I’ll be telling you all about what I used to create my 5 minute makeup that I started to tell you about on Friday. It’s really simple and as I said then, all you need is some confidence, a makeup bag that you know and a bit of practice
Pre-Step 1 is: Before I start putting my makeup on, I had already prepped my face with moisturisor and sometimes primer (depends how tired I am as I personally find that normally I am ok without primer but it helps my makeup stay on for longer if I am really tired!)
These are my steps … I rarely deviate away from the order below coz it’s kind of like a military operation now and I’ve got the timings down to a T
- Yves Saint Laurent Teint Radiance foundation –
I pump 2 pea sized amounts onto the back of my left hand and apply to my nose, chin and mouth area with the tips of my 2nd and 3rd fingers of my right hand. Because I only apply foundation to the areas of my face that need a little bit of coverage (nose, under eye and chin) I blend the rest of it outwards towards my ears – there is hardly any remaining at this point to cover my cheeks which is the way I like it as by doing it this way, it gives a natural finish, yet offers coverage in the required areas
ves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat – With one click of the “pen”, I have enough on the applicator for one sweep under both eyes. I then gently pat it in, concentrating mainly on the inside corner of my eyes – I tend not to apply it to the outside corner of the underneath of my eyes
MAC eyeshadow in Sketch – With my large blending brush I apply a small amount of this (it’s dark brown with a tiny hint of Red) into my socket line and blend it upwards and outwards – its a broad brush stroak to add a small amount of depth and contouring to my eye – it’s by no means a “full on” smokey eyes
L’oreal Volume Million Lashes in Extra Black – I am very generous with the amount of Mascara that I like to apply as I like a full impact set of lashes! I apply one coat to each eye and move onto step 5
Saint Tropez Powder Bronzer – I load up my bronzing brush with a generous amount of bronzer and tap off any excess. I then start from the outside of my neck (right side) and work in circular motions, moving upwards towards my chin each time, and around my neck from the left to the right. When there is less bronzer remaining on the brush, I work in circular motions around my face starting on my right side moving anticlockwise. Dont forget to work the colour into your temples and hairline!
About 1 minute
- I move back to step 4 and apply another coat of mascara – by coming back to it, it allows the first coat to dry ever so slightly, which makes the second layer build up much better!
This takes about 45 seconds
MAC powder Blusher in Pink Swoon – I smile into the mrror, load the colour into my brush and apply the blusher in circluar motions to the Apples of my cheeks
Lime Lily – Waterproof Defining Eyebrow pencil in Taupe – I allow myself about 20 seconds per eye and apply this pencil in short strokes starting from the inside corner of my brow, following the shape that I want to create, to the arch then down the other side to finish at a pointThis takes about 45 seconds
Total running time 5 1/2 minutes
What about my lips!? To be honest with you, for this makeup, I don’t put anything on my lips, apart from some Balm if they are feeling dry and I would do that on the run to save precious time!
So make sure that you stay tuned for my YouTube video coming very soon where I will SHOW you how I do each step so that you can go away, practice and perfect YOUR 5 minute makeup
